Community Description
Franktown’s beginnings came in 1858 when the first gold discovery in Colorado was made in the area. Although today this quiet, primarily residential community offers little for prospectors, natural treasures abound.

Included is Castlewood Canyon State Park, a favorite spot to hike and bird watch as well as to explore local history at the ruins of the Castlewood Canyon Dam.
